Target Marketing for Dummies

by Morgan Smith

There are many people these days that want to start their own business, but while they think that money is the most important part of a business, in truth, it is marketing that holds that title. Marketing after all is the way that a product is what gives possible customers an idea of what it involves. In this article, there will be tips on how to make a good market strategy, specifically the target audience.

There are a lot of segments that need to be acknowledged when picking the audience that a business would be aiming for. These would include the different types of races, like Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic American, Asian American, and so much more, especially if this product is being broadcast internationally. It is important to do research on the cultures of said races, so that advertising them cannot only make the audience feel seen but it can also be relatable and familiar to them.

There are also subgroups that involve the different generations, including Baby Boomers, Generation X or Baby Busters, Generation Y or Millennials, Generation Z or Centennials, and Generation Alpha. Many things have changed throughout the years, including technology, fashion, and trends. Finding out the target audience will help the business be able to find out what they would relate to the most. For example, if the target audience were of Generation Alpha or those that were born mostly in the 2010s, then the target audience would likely be adolescence, and the trends that they are involved with will likely include social media, like Snapchat or TikTok. These would be ways to advertise products to them.

In the end, what is really important is knowing thoughts and the motivations of the target audience. And knowing about their culture and what they find the most familiar and relatable will definitely help in this part of marketing.
